Here are our two badgers, Itchy (male) and Scrawny tail (female)

Badger brings in bedding, but will they abandon sett? 1st November 2025

Plenty of badger activity this past week, with lots of coming and going. I'm still not 100% sure how many badgers are using this sett: 2 or 3.

One promising sign, earlier on in the week, was a badger bring in bedding. A less promising sign occurred on Friday 31st October: All Hallows Eve. My trail cams videoed badgers leaving this sett in the evening, but not returning this morning, Saturday 1st November.

I do not, however, know how many entrances and exits this sett has. I do know it has chambers to the left and right of this main sett entrance. What I don't know is if these other chambers have exits. There are a number of sett holes to the left and right of this main entrance. I would say that we had atrocious weather last night and on to early morning. Strong winds and heavy rains. It's possible the badgers took refuge in an outlier sett.

Oh well, we'll see next week.
