Moor Green Lakes Nature reserve bought and gifted to Finchampstead Parish Council. 22nd March 2026

As the headline says, earlier this year a local family bought Moor Green lakes nature reserve off Cemex and then gifted it to Finchampstead Parish Council. No doubt there may be some form of tax write down or inheritance planning, but full marks to the family for ensuring the tax man doesn't get his grubby hands on their money, but in such a manner as to enrich the community of Finchampstead and surrounds.

However, there was no news of the larger nascent Longwater Road nature reserve to the west of Moor Green lakes. I have no idea what stage we're at with the sorry saga of what Cemex propose to do with the site. I have contacted the council for further information.
